The Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) is an iconic charity providing free life-saving aeromedical and primary health care services for people living, working or travelling across the vast 2.5 million km2 of remote and regional Western Australia.
Operating for more than 90 years, the RFDS is both icon and innovator, and a vital link in the health and emergency network of WA.
Strategically based in five locations across the state (Broome, Port Hedland, Meekatharra, Kalgoorlie and Jandakot), the RFDS is staffed by a specialist team of clinicians, flight nurses/midwives, avionics engineers, pilots, logisticians and highly qualified professionals who ensure all operations are safe, efficient and provide the best care to every patient – 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year.
With a fleet of 16 PC-12 turbo-props complemented by two PC-24 jets, each aircraft is fully equipped as an intensive care unit in the sky. En route from regional WA to specialist hospitals only based in Perth, patients are attended by medical crews who provide the finest aeromedical treatment.
The RFDS is there when people need them the most! You may never know when you will need us – but we will always need you. Please consider supporting your Flying Doctor.
